MIA

Studying for my law exams has taken over my life. It's been torts and contracts for a solid week, now. DEATH! But once it's over, I'll be back to posting :)

One of a Kind

I am sure everyone is familiar with Etsy. What I love about this site is that there is so much for a person to find that is really one of a kind. So many things come from small shops where the person makes everything themselves, which not only means the potential for higher quality, but also decreases the likelihood of anyone having the same thing. I peruse Etsy often and here are some of the things I love.

Simple Daisy

If I had an iPhone, I'd get this in a jiffy. Yea, I said "jiffy" that's how much I like it.

This is the cutest memo board!

Obviously, I am obsessed with this shop in particular but just one more:

Don't you love this platter and koozie?

These are just a FEW of things I have found on Etsy that I just love. If you haven't been there, I encourage you to go and browse. There's some amazing things on there and you are supporting the "small business" of America. Who doesn't love that? Happy shopping! :)

Bucket List - Aussie Style

I've been in Australia for awhile now but I haven't seen everything I want to see here. So I've created a Bucket List for Australia.
Uluru

Twelve Apostles

Daintree Rainforest

Kakadu National park

Horizontal Waterfalls

Fraser Island (plus the Whitsunday Islands)

Bungee Jump off Sydney Harbour Bridge

Honestly there's quite a good bit more but thought I'd leave it at this for now. I luckily already crossed off a few like the Great Barrier Reef and I am going to get a couple more knocked off the list in the next few months. I am beyond excited! I wish I could be traveling on the regular but my law school lifestyle totally holds that back, stupid education. Why can't someone just give me money to travel around and live the "bohemian lifestyle"?

What is on your bucket list?

10 Most Annoying Couples

Just to humor myself, I came up with the 10 Most Annoying Couples list.

*Disclaimer: these are my own personal opinions and should also not be taken too seriously

1. The "I will die if I don't spend every second of my day with you" couple.
This includes but is not limited to couples that:
  • Can't even go to the grocery store alone.
  • If they go a whole 24 hours without seeing each other, curl up in the fetal position because they just can't handle the DISTANCE!
I don't care who ya are, everyone needs "me" time. I know if I don't get "Katy" time it feels like I am a volcano that will erupt with searing lava of evil glares and snide remarks.

2.  The "we're so in love that we have to broadcast it to the world by fondling each other in public" couple.
O-em-gee, this one really irks me. I am talking about the ones that literally just can't keep their hands off each other and just exhibit WAY too much PDA. Not only does it make everyone around them feel uncomfortable and awkward, but it also makes them seem like they're desperate to validate their relationship.

3. The "please don't tag this picture of me on facebook or my girlfriend/boyfriend will get mad" couple.
If your significant other can't handle the fact that you socialize and spend time with members of the opposite sex in a fun and innocent manner, then you should probably reconsider their sanity. Also, if you find yourself saying the above statement anytime a camera is pulled out for a pic of you and another girl/guy then you should reconsider your own sanity.

4. The "we never fight" couple.
First response: HAHAHAHA!
For starters, any healthy relationship is going to have some fights in it. That means you are actually communicating. It might not be in the most productive way all the time, but you're trying. True, there is that honeymoon phase where everything is blissful and perfect, but if your relationship is progressing into a substantial relationship you are bound for some skirmishes and disagreements. However, if it's often then see #6

5. The "our relationship emerged from him cheating on his ex-girlfriend with me, and I just can't believe he's cheating on me now!" couple.
We'll call them Ed and Shirley.  Ed was cheating on his then long term girlfriend with Shirley. Ed broke up with that girlfriend to be with Shirley. Ed then cheats on Shirley and Shirley is in the corner of the party boohooing because she's in SHOCK that Ed would do such a thing because they are so in love! Then to top it off, Shirley stays with Ed because "it won't happen again".  However, we all know it did. A lot. Shaking my head.

6. The "it's only on days that end in 'y' that we fight" couple.
As mentioned above, fights happen in relationships, but if you find yourself preparing each day for the next relationship battle, then maybe you should reevaluate it. I'm sorry, Jordan Sparxx, but love does NOT always feel like a battlefield.

7. The "I actually don't know if we're dating right now" couple.
Yea we were all pulling for Rachel and Ross and Carrie and Big, but in reality, it doesn't work like that. On again and off again couples just make no sense. I agree sometimes couples do need a break for a variety of personal reasons but that's one break. Not 20.

8. The "incognito" couple.
Ya know, the ones that think their slyness is worthy enough for a CIA career. I'm not sure why people do it, maybe they think that their being together is a such a powerful combination that it will create a sequence of events that will forever change the universe so it's best to keep it a secret. Sorry buddies, but everyone has known for weeks.

9. The "I don't want to break up because I don't want to be single" couple.
That's like saying, "I don't want to be the only one who didn't, so sure I'll drink the arsenic laced Kool-Aid". Enough said.

And the last, but not least,...

10. The "we're so much better than that" couple.
This is pretty much every couple in existence. We all think we're the best couple to exist since Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. I'll admit it, Steve and I are guilty of it:
Me: Did you hear about what happened with Alfalfa and Darla?
Steve: Yea! That's so ridiculous.Who would do that??
Both of us (with a smirk): We're so much better than that.

Monogrammed Wellies?!

I think these are just RIDICULOUSLY cute. We're all lucky ducks because right now Carly over at College Prep is giving away a free pair of these babies from Zoubaby

Would a pair of these just not brighten up even the greyest of rainy days?!

So head on over to her page to enter and you might just be the lucky winner!

Even if I don't win, I'm probably just going to buy a pair because that's how much I LOVE them.

A Touch of Homesick

Well the homesick bug has hit me lately.  Womp Womp.

Sidebar: I stole "womp womp" from my friend Meghan. If she reads this, she will see that I have in fact acknowledged this steal.

So to help cure this bug, I have made a list about the things I love about living in Australia:

1. Where I live, it is always warm.

2. More people talk to me than usual because of my "cool accent".

3. I also get free drinks because of this.

4. I have met people from pretty much everywhere it feels like. (Yes, I know this can happen in the US too but it didn't really happen for me until here, so I count that as a good thing about here).

5. It's definitely a growing experience and I am learning LOTS about myself. As my parents say, this is a "character building" experience.

 6. The accents, they still get me, especially on commercials because they are so exaggerated.

7. My amazing Australian boyfriend.

Pretty rough, my birthday.

8. Since I am living in another country for only a few years, I am eager to see everything in it and near it. I make the effort to travel more than I ever would if I was home. Trust me, there are SO many amazing things to see and experience on this big island of a country.

Airlie Beach, Whitsunday Islands, heading here soon.

9. All the native animals. They're cool. Even the weird birds that swoop at people on campus. For example, I see pretty white tropical birds everyday on my walk to school. Also, magpies still really excite me and they are pretty much just fancy looking crows. So even the common animals and birds are new to me which can only be cool from an outsider's prospective. Except pigeons of course, those rodents with wings are everywhere.

Magpie.

10. I learn new expressions and words on a weekly basis. Yea, they really do say some strange things here.

Moral of the post is: there's always something good about anything! Or maybe ten somethings.

Dresses: My First Love

Like many girls, I have quite an intimate relationship with dresses.  I enjoy all kinds; you name it and I want it. Especially floor length, I wish I had more formal things to wear one to. However, I don't live in some magical world of monthly formal events so I just have to dream of wearing them.

I am currently working on shedding some poundage, and once I reach my first goal then I am going to treat myself to a new dress!  A new dress is great motivation for something like that, right?

Some dresses I have been crushing on:

Obviously the last one is more of a prom/formal dress but I wish I had an excuse for it.  I know the trends these days for prom and formals are shorter dresses but my theory is stick to the floor length! Most people only have a handful of occasions they can wear this kind of a dress to, so take advantage of every one.  I love the feeling of elegance and femininity you get from wearing this kind of a dress. Plus don't the photos turn out wonderfully with you in a snazzy formal dress and a beau in a tux?

Do you have any dresses you are hardcore crushing on?
